At present in Colleges in India, physical activity is not mandatory and is optional for a few who are good at it.

  • One subject which entails physical activity should be made compulsory as an additional subject/ subsidiary subject (e.g. dance, aerobics, games, various sports may be considered as options).
  • Safe and shaded walking and cycling paths should be constructed and planned for. Walking or cycling to college should be promoted.
  • Active advocacy by the Media along with their watchdog role is indispensable.
  • Being physically active needs to be made fashionable

Introducing and increasing physical activity in Colleges will go along way in preventing diabetes, blood pressure, heart attacks, strokes, cancer & osteoporosis.
