Tobacco can lead to multiple problems that affect the individual and the entire family. Tobacco is a heart breaker and a body breaker as tobacco mainly kills through heart disease and cancers. Nicotine addiction ensures life-long customers not long-life customers. Some dreadful diseases and health conditions caused by tobacco are:

  • Cancer of the lungs (about 90% of lung cancers are due to smoking), mouth, pharynx, larynx, stomach, urinary bladder, gall bladder
  • Heart and blood vessel disease
  • Heart attack or myocardial infraction
  • Chest pain or angina
  • Sudden cardiac death
  • Stroke
  • Peripheral vascular disease (decreases the flow of blood to the feet causing gangrene in the legs)
  • Damages the lining of the arteries all over the body
  • Lung diseases (chronic bronchitis, emphysema)
  • Impotence in men
  • Decreased estrogen levels in women may lead to menopause at a young age
  • Lower ability to do physical activity and decreases physical endurance or stamina
  • Suddenly raises the blood pressure and reduces the blood flow to the heart
  • Lowers the good cholesterol in the blood
  • Increases risk of diabetes
  • Bad breath

The risk of heart disease and paralysis goes up by 2 to 3 times for smokers when compared to non-smokers. Women who smoke and take birth control pills have a greater risk of a stroke.
